author(s) : Abdel-Fattah M. Rizk

description

A phylogenetic analysis of Zygophyllaceae R. Br. based on morphological, anatomical and DNA data shows that Nitraria appears to be widely separated from Zygophyllaceae sensu stric. and close to the members of Sapindales (Shehan and Chase, 1996), accordingly Nitraria (Nitrariaceae) was recognized as a separate monotypic family with about 6 species grows in coastal and inland saline soils. The family Nitrariaceae is represented in Egypt by one genus and one species (Boulos, 2000).
