Leysera gnaphalodes L. contains ursolic acid, oleanolic acid, 2α-hydroxyoleanolic acid, several diterpenes (labdane, 13-epimanoyloxide and kaur-15-ene derivatives) and benzofuran derivatives (Bohlmann and Zdero, 1972; Tsichritzis and Jakupovic, 1991).
Leysera gnaphalodes is used in S. Africa in the treatment of respiratory ailments including asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis, influenza and stomach ailments (Scott et al., 2004).
The plant extract exhibited significant anti-mycobacterial activity (Bamuamba et al., 2008).
