Sesquiterpene lactones have been isolated from several Crepis species e.g. Crepis aurea (Michalska et al., 2013), Crepis conyzifolia (Kisiel and Michalska, 2001), Crepis dioscoridis (Tsoukalas et al., 2014), Crepis japonica (Miyase et al., 1985) and Crepis pannonica (Michalska et al., 2016).
Several phenolics (flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, acids, coumarins) have been isolated from Crepis species.
In contrast to the huge variety of sesquiterpene lactones reported, only a limited number of flavonoids and phenolic acids are known from the genus Crepis. Compounds detected in an investigation include flavonoids luteolin, luteolin 7-O-glucoside, luteolin 7-O-gentiobioside, luteolin 7-O-glucuronide, and luteolin 4′-O-glucoside and caffeic acid derivatives chlorogenic acid, 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid, caffeoyltartaric acid, and cichoric acid.
