All representatives of the Ambrosia genus are characterized by a high content of sesquiterpene lactones, which account for the antihelminthic, cardiotonic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, sedative (calming), antimalarial, and other types of pharmacological activity (Parkhomenko et al., 2005).
A series of flavanes and flavonols as well as some flavanones were identified (Wollenweber et al., 1987, 1995).
The genus Ambrosia is represented in Egypt by two species (Boulos, 2002).
